Dr. Levy
Since 1981, Jay A. Levy, M.D., and his group at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), have focused on biologic, immunologic, and molecular studies of the AIDS virus.

 

They have emphasized the viral and immunologic features of HIV pathogenesis and long-term survival. Dr. Levy's group was one of the first to identify HIV, originally calling it the AIDS-associated retrovirus. Dr. Levy is presently Professor in the Department of Medicine and Research Associate at the Cancer Research Institute, UCSF.  He is the Director of the Laboratory for Tumor and AIDS Virus Research.
